Osteopathy is a manual practice created in 1874 by Andrew Taylor Still. This man practiced medicine and surgery which allowed him to acquire important knowledge in human anatomy. Thanks to this knowledge, he established the principles of osteopathy. Osteopathy is based on the anatomical, physiological, metabolic and biological knowledge of the body system. According to its principles, the body has the ability to self-regulate and self-heal in the event of malfunctions of a mechanical nature. The manual techniques of the practice make it possible to stimulate, to restore the good functioning of the structures of the body connected for which a lack of mobility has been observed.
Handling for the sole purpose of preventing or treating functional disorders of the animal's body, excluding organic pathologies which require the intervention of a veterinary doctor.

Animal osteopathy consists of finding the cause of the animal's discomfort and disorder.
